Neighborhood Butterflies

I have a lovely neighborhood friend with a gorgeous garden overflowing with the brightest magenta butterfly bushes. Of course she also has an abundance of beautiful monarch butterflies.

She recently happened to notice a few of my butterfly images on social media and invited me and my camera over to see if any of her butterflies were photogenic. Some briefly posed, some tucked their wings behind the flowers. Many paused just long enough for me to get excited, tricking me into believing they would smile for the camera, then disappeared into thin air. They quickly darted from one side of the garden to the other, always to the opposite side from where I was. It was exhausting!
